Story
woman posing with food bafg

“I’m a vendor selling candy, water, lemonade and juices in a window shop.

I work to be able to pay rent, food and pay the necessary services.

My husband passed away and now I am responsible alone for all my expenses. I live in a single room.

With the loss of my husband I had to sell the little things in my house to pay the rent,

I sold the refrigerator and a small stereo that gave me happiness after work.

In the morning I leave my house at 8 am and return at 8 pm, at the end of the day I get home with a maximum of 10 dollars, although I have days when I only make 2.5 dollars. I have to save that for the rent and to eat something.

I live alone, I wish they would visit me.”

María Elena. Street Vendor, Medellín.
